The 3 Best Practices for Managing Chronic Pain
Chronic pain affects more people than cancer, diabetes, heart attack, and stroke combined, with over 100 million sufferers in the U.S. alone. It is complex and unique for each individual, but research has revealed three key consistencies among successful interventions: therapeutic neuroscience education, rehabilitative exercise, and nutritional modifications. In this course, we'll investigate these factors and unite them in a framework for effective treatment that applies to a wide range of chronic conditions.

Learn how therapeutic neuroscience education can explain pain to patients in a way that empowers them to focus on their future wellness rather than their past pain and previous treatments. Discover the best exercises for alleviating pain and pain-related depression, and master them during interactive labs while practicing exercise layering and progressions necessary for success. Finally, explore evidence-based nutritional strategies for reducing flare-ups, as well as effective tools for guiding patients on their journey to wellness. Register now and take home the knowledge to assess, treat, and free patients from chronic pain.

  • Evaluate therapeutic neuroscience education strategies to determine their impact on patient mindsets toward pain and recovery

  • Determine which activities of daily living to reduce/avoid until strength increases to protective levels

  • Design a therapeutic exercise program that delicately layers and progresses exercises for chronic pain patients

  • Analyze nutritional strategies to determine their impact on the immune system, systemic inflammation, and oxidative stress

  • Propose an evaluation and treatment plan that combines therapeutic neuroscience education, exercise, and nutrition

J.J. VOGELSBERG, PT, MPT, has been treating chronic pain patients of all ages for 17 years in outpatient physical therapy. Over that span of time, his outlook on this complex population has gone from feeling helpless and frustrated to empowered and highly skilled. Since earning his Master of Physical Therapy from Wichita State University, he has furthered his education and understanding in the area of therapeutic neuroscience, and feels that understanding and being able to explain the role the brain plays in pain has breathed life into his ability to really help patients suffering with chronic pain.

Mr. Vogelsberg and his wife Kristie, a physician assistant, are owners of Prevention Through Nutrition, Inc. They educate families and other health professionals on the connection between nutrition and disease, and show patients and clients simple ways to eat their way to better health. Mr. Vogelsberg enjoys coaching his boys in wrestling during the winter, and was a state champion himself. In the summer you'll find him at the ball field as his oldest son plays competitive baseball for a Rawlings major league Prospect team. As an athlete and marathon runner, Mr. Vogelsberg has experienced chronic injuries that he was able to overcome using the concepts explored in this seminar.
