PENINA PEARL RYBAK, MA/CCC-SLP, TSHH, NY
Penina Rybak, MA/CCC-SLP, TSHH, NY specializes in social skills development for young children with special needs, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders. She has been providing services for 20 years, to young children with special needs in home-based early intervention, center-based preschool intervention, self-contained school age classrooms, and private practice.
Penina participated in the 1995-2000 New York State TRAID Project, which worked to improve self-regulation and communication in special education by integrating assistive technology into the classroom. She recently spearheaded the Boardmaker Initiative at a charter school district in NY. She has been published in ADVANCE magazine several times. Penina has done many co-treatment sessions with school based OTs and social workers addressing behavioral challenges in youngsters in school settings.
She provides educational seminars through her company, Socially Speaking™ LLC, on her Socially Speaking™ Resource, using an eclectic, multi-sensory treatment approach. It includes “back to basics” play using vintage play materials and modernized Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI). She used both the PC and Apple™ platforms, to facilitate thematic learning, improve behavior, and motivate children. Penina earned her master’s degree from New York University in speech-language pathology.
