Suicide and self-mutilation education and prevention is a passion with Pam Marcus, RN, APRN/PMH-BC, and board certified as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric Nursing. Pam's on-going devotion to research includes development and refinement of a new suicidal risk staging model to determine levels of danger. She has trained thousands of professionals over her 30 year career, and consults extensively throughout the United States on client care and psychiatric nursing.
Pam has authored numerous book chapters on topics such as Clinical Practice Guidelines for Suicide/Self Harm Prevention, Suicide, Borderline Families, The Treatment for Survivors of Incest, Clinical Practice Guidelines for Management of Anxiety, Personality Disorders, The Family and Community in Mental Health Nursing, and Psychobiology.
In addition to her active private practice in Washington, D.C., she is also an Associate Professor of Nursing at Prince George's Community College. Among her credentials, Pam was the Clinical Director for the Crisis Response System in the D.C. area, where she provided direct client care and clinical supervision for the mobile crisis dispatch team (police and community calls), urgent care clinic and the telephone warm line.
