JOHN ROBERTSON, PHD

John M. Robertson, Ph.D., is a psychologist whose career includes both university research and clinical practice. His publications have examined treatment issues in working with various populations of difficult-to-treat men. He has taught classes in clinical psychology and research design at both Kansas State University and the University of Kansas, and provided individual and group therapy at a university counseling center. For many years, he developed a fulltime clinical practice at the Professional Renewal Center in Kansas - an intensive treatment facility for professionals, most of whom are mandated to seek treatment because their authoritarian behavior at work threatens their careers. He currently conducts a private practice primarily for men in Lawrence, Kansas.

Dr. Robertson is a past president of the Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity, a division of the American Psychological Association. He has presented numerous workshops and symposia for psychotherapy professionals at national conferences. His most recent book is Tough Guys and True Believers: Managing Authoritarian Men in the Psychotherapy Room.
