ED SARZYNSKI

Ed Sarzynski is a partner in the law firm of Hogan, Sarzynski, Lynch, DeWind & Gregory, LLP in Johnson City, New York. The firm concentrates its practice in Education, Municipal and Labor Law, and represents over 50 school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services throughout the State of New York. He received a B.A. degree from Hamilton College (Phi Beta Kappa), and a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School. Mr. Sarzynski is the author of the Hornbook of Topics, Analysis and Forms Regarding Children with Disabilities, Eighth Edition, which is widely used throughout the state and has been accepted by the Library of Congress. He has worked with IDEA and its predecessor (EAHCA) as well as Section 504 since its inception and has lectured at numerous workshops throughout New York state as well as at numerous national conferences, to administrators, teachers, board members, parents, attorneys and advocates on matters involving Special Education Law. Mr. Sarzynski has also been involved in numerous hearings, Commissioner and State Review Officer proceedings, and federal and state court litigation regarding special education. He was admitted to the bar in New York and the U.S. District Court in 1971, the U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1980. His other writings include Disciplining a Handicapped Student, 46 West’s Education Law Reporter, p. 17, and The Importance of Knowing and Following Procedures Involving Handicapped Students, 16 Education Law Reporter, p.1. Mr. Sarzynski is a member of the Broome County and New York State Bar Associations, New York State Association of School Attorneys, the National School Boards Association of School Attorneys, and New York State Management Advocates for School Labor Affairs (MASLA).
