Clear Guidelines for Ethical Delivery of Distance Counseling & Supervision
Distance delivery of counseling and supervision is growing in popularity and evidence-based support. However, many mental health professionals are baffled by the details of how to do this in a sound and ethical manner. Ethical decision making is hard enough in a traditional counseling setting, much less in a distance setting.

Fortunately, key national and international organizations have established ethical guidelines outlining the dos and don’ts of distance counseling and supervision. Dr. Stretch shares a best practices model for meeting and exceeding these guidelines. HIPAA/HITECH requirements, proactive procedures for dealing with consent and boundary issues, models for ethical decision making, and the steps to take next—all of this and much more awaits you in this dynamic seminar.

  • Explain ethical and legal issues involved in distance counseling and supervision

  • Recall techniques for developing a strong working relationship with clients and supervisees via distance methods

  • Recognize the technology needed for effective and ethical distance counseling and supervision

  • Describe resources available to support supervisors providing distance counseling and supervision

  • Discover ethical guidelines to common events that occur during distance counseling and supervision

  • Counselors

  • Social Workers

  • Psychologists

  • Marriage and Family Therapists

  • Case Managers

  • Clinical Supervisors

  • Psychiatrists

  • Educators

  • Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors

  • Pastoral Counselors/Clergy
