Course Description:

Mental health professionals are encountering an ever-expanding list of medications from prescribers to treat anything from anxiety and depression to attention deficit disorders and beyond. It is vital that you have a working and up-to-date familiarity with the range of available psychotropics, and when and how they might benefit your clients. Join Charles Atkins, M.D., and take advantage of his expertise and practical teaching style, to get the most current information to optimize your clients’ mental health treatment.

Specific classes of medications such as antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and anti-anxiety medications will be presented with discussion of how and when they are prescribed. Dr. Atkins will give strategies to improve medication adherence and to manage side effects. Specific concerns across the life-cycle will be explored as well as culture- and gender-specific topics. Throughout the day the latest complementary treatments and non-medication strategies to improve outcomes will be incorporated. Attend this seminar and expand your knowledge pertaining to the most current, safe and effective application and management of psychotropic medications.
