Neurocognitive Disorders in Geriatric Patients: Helpful Answers to Common Questions About Screening, Prevention, & Treatment

BRAD MOSSBARGER, PH.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist who has specialized in the mental health challenges of older adults throughout his 20 years of practice. His interest in geropsychology began as an undergraduate at the Ohio State University, where he worked as a research assistant on a pioneering study of the role of stress on the psychoneuroimmunology of Alzheimer's caregivers. His doctorate from Ohio University focused on issues of perceived control related to subjective well-being among older residents of assisted living facilities. Since that time, Dr. Mossbarger has worked in private practice, provided clinical services and consultation to nursing and rehabilitation facilities, been a full-time university faculty member, and served as staff psychologist in an older adult mental health clinic at a Veterans Administration Medical Center. In this latter role, he gathered expertise in evaluation and treatment of memory-related disorders common to the aging population. Dr. Mossbarger has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals based on these research and assessment interests.
