KENNETH FUKUNAGA
Kenneth Fukunaga is a senior partner in Fukunaga Matayoshi Hershey and Ching and specializes in complex litigation, products liability and healthcare law and planning. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii (Experimental Psychology, 1976) and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Francisco, School of Law (1973). He is Past President of the Aloha Chapter of the Association for Information and Image Management, as well as past chairman and member of the following state commissions: State Advisory Commission on Drug Abuse and Controlled Substances and Hawaii Environmental Council. Both positions were appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state senate. In addition, he was chairman and member of the Governor's Commission on Mental Health and Criminal Justice, which was tasked with the job of changing the laws governing the insanity defense in Hawaii.
Over the past 28 years, Mr. Fukunaga has presented on a variety of topics including: health care compliance issues (EMTALA, Stark, etc.), legal ethics, health care privacy laws, including HIPAA, the application of Daubert and Kumho Tire to psychological and psychiatric testimony, internet ethics, civil commitment and insanity defense issues, mental health and the law, as well as numerous other topics.
